Best day ever in Johannesburg

If we search in google 'crime rate in Johannesburg', a 100 of articles comes up. People, including me thinks for a while before deciding to move in Johannesburg. I am living in Johannesburg since in January 2021, so far no bad experience. I have been contacted by a lot people who had some chance to come here to discuss about the safety issues here. Very often I discuss with my friends, colleagues here about which place to avoid, what not to do while walking on the road. Those facts may be true  but we never discuss about how lovely the city is, how lovely the people are whom we met. 

Yesterday, I went to a market complex, it was around 3PM. I do not have a car here, so app cab is my mode of transportation. I reached the market, visited a few shops and bought things. Once I was done with the shopping, I took out my phone to book the cab. BOOM!!! No internet, restarted the mobile, no help.  Due to the image of the city, I did not have courage to go beyond the shopping complex with the mobile in my hand to search for better connection. All my friends whom I can call were out of the city at that moment. I tried my best to book the cab for about 30 minutes. Not to mention, I had three heavy bags in hand and one on my back. My last option was to call my landlord to rescue me, but that was the furthest choice. 

Then I searched for free wifi, as that place is a large shopping complex with several big shops.  My phone showed a list of wifis though needed password. Among them I found a shop from which I purchased a while ego. I went to that shop, narrated them my situation. I requested if they can provide me the wifi password, mentioning that I had a recent purchase. The store manger told me that they also do not know the password (may be they are not allowed to disclose it). But he also assured me to help and called a salesgirl. Without hesitating, that lady bought internet packages and booked a cab for me from her phone. Finally I reached home safely. I was so nervous that I forgot to ask her name. I do not believe in the existence of GOD, but she was a representer of GODNESS  to me yesterday. In these pathetic days, full of inhuman activities around the globe, these sort of incidents help to restore the faith in humanity.

There are some safety issues with this country, but if we get the chance to meet people here,  they are lovely.
